If you go to Virtual spaceflight, you will find quite a few tutorials on this addon. Here is what they have to say about it.

This add-on was built by Ken Bolli with the help of a few others (see the supplied readme.txt file). It is based on a study done for NASA by Dr. Stanley K. Borowski  and artwork by Pat Rawlings. It is still at the beta stage, with a few rough edges that I will detail in the tutorial. However this is one of the best add-ons you can get.

And if you have watched Discovery channel's Race to Mars series, you'll see they opted for Dr. Borowski's nuclear rocket. That a look at some clips

The scene is set in the near future - 2015 and using the first supplied scenario your task is to dock the Passenger Transfer Module (PTM) to the Lunox Augmented Nuclear Thermal Reactor (LANTR) transport rocket and set a course for Lunar orbit. Here you will undock the PTM from the LANTR, refuel the LANTR,  dock the PTM to the LANDER and descend to the Lunox  Moon base. Once at the Lunox base your task is to maneuver the Lunar Rover transport underneath the PTM/Lander combination and drop the PTM onto it.

So it is a very complete addon, that is partly incompatible with Orbiter 2006 because the files have to go in new places and the base config is all wrong. But thanks to the Orbiter forum, I made a new compilation of the addon that works just fine. (right click on the link and "save target as")

The PTM

The PTM starts docked at the Earth station:

You have to join up with the LANTR that starts out docked to the Earth Depot

Once to the moon you have to refuel the LANTR and dock with the Lander (shown here docked to the Lunar depot)

Land at Lunox base with the lander

And get the Rover under it.

Hours and hours of fun. Surprised

One thing though, the instrument panel is quite easy to understand except for one detail: Where to click to select an MFD ? ( an important detail !)

Just click on the buttons right of the mfd screen and you'll quickly find the right one.
