A fantastic discovery I am also contributing to. A whole bunch of amateur astronomers who own a Mallincam, a hypersensitive astronomy camera made in Canada, broadcast their observing sessions live ! With my DSLR it could take anywhere from 30 seconds to 5 minutes to make galaxies and nebulas appear in my pictures. With the Mallincam we are talking less than 30 seconds.

You can see the pictures live and chat with the astronomers.

I am jsut a beginning astronomer and astrophotography is quite demanding. But this I an pround of. Thanks to the Celestron CPC11 our school has bought and a pentax K200D DSLR courtesy of Pentax Canada, I was able to take this picture of comet C/2009 R1 McNaught at 2:00 am. Had to get to the top of a mountain to get above the fog. This is a 2 minute exposure at ISO 1600.

Just came back from a trip to the US Spacecamp in  Huntsville  Alabama.

If you are a teacher , you can go there for free if you apply for a Honeywell Spacecamp grant. Tons of activities await you. Lots of classroom material for you to bring back and exciting space simulations for your own experience.
